On Monday, November 1, 2010, the Jay Bennett Foundation announced its first official charitable grant. The Board of Directors authorized a $1,000 gift to the Rock For Kids not-for-profit. Rock For Kids is a Chicago-based 501c3 organization that provides music education to underserved children in Chicago, sparking creativity and passion, teaching critical thinking, supporting academic achievement, and enriching young lives. The money will support three young students taking instrumental music lessons. The Foundation is exploring a longer-term relationship with Rock For Kids, possibly including a Jay Bennett Guitar Scholarship Fund. Stay tuned for announcements of future grants.
